Privacy

Effective date: August 11, 2026

Stay Steady is built to give you a private place to stay no contact. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account data: when you sign up, we create a profile with a username (handle), an optional avatar, and your account settings. We do not ask for your real name.

Journal and worksheet entries: everything you write in the journal, prompts, worksheets, and unsent messages is stored in your account and is readable only by you.

Check-ins and streaks: your urge level, mood, and daily reset history are stored to show your streak, insights, and patterns over time.

Community data: posts and replies you share in the community feed are visible to other signed-in members. You can post anonymously at any time; anonymous posts are still linked to your account internally so you can edit or delete them, but other members will not see your handle.

Support and moderation data: when you contact support, report a post, or submit a moderation review request, we store that message and the account it came from. Moderators can see reported content and the reason it was reported; they do not see your private journal entries.

Device and session data: we use local storage on your device to keep you signed in (if you choose), store draft autosaves, and remember your app-lock PIN. Web analytics may collect anonymous usage data such as page views and errors to help us keep the app running.

How we use your data

We use your data to provide the app: showing your streak, surfacing prompts, building insights, sending optional reminder emails, and connecting you with community support. We do not sell your personal data.

We process payments through Stripe. When you subscribe or make a purchase, Stripe receives the information required to complete the transaction. We do not store full payment card details on our servers.

We send transactional emails, including sign-in links, subscription receipts, and weekly-summary pointers, from hello@staysteadyapp.com. You can choose whether to receive optional reminder emails in your settings.

What we share

We do not share the contents of your journal, check-ins, or unsent messages with other users or third parties. Community posts and replies are shared with other signed-in members according to the visibility you choose.

We may share data when required by law, to protect the safety of our users, or to prevent abuse of the platform.

Your rights

You can export everything you have written and delete your account and all associated data from Settings. Deleting your account removes your profile, journal entries, check-ins, drafts, unsent messages, posts, and replies.

You can update your handle, avatar, reminder preferences, and app-lock settings at any time from Settings.

Safety and security

Your data is stored in a backend database with row-level security policies so that only you can read your private content. We use encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your sign-in credentials safe.

If you are in crisis, use the Safety section in the app or contact emergency services in your area. The app is not a substitute for professional help.

Children

Stay Steady is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date at the top of the page will always reflect the latest version. Significant changes will be announced in the app or by email.
